I had a couple of red jalapenos pop up in the garden and was craving a burger today. What better burger to make with red jalapenos than a Juicy Lucy.
This is a very simple recipe where I basically took my red jalapenos and chopped them up nicely and mixed them in with my cheese. From there I stuffed that cheese in the middle of the burger and threw it on the smoker. About 30 minutes later I had myself a super delicious burger with a spicy kick.
I actually ate two quarter pound burgers then realized I didn’t record the end of my video so I had to eat another one just to complete the video and it was worth it!
Ingredients
- 1 lb of ground beef
- 4 oz of Velveeta cheese
- 2 small red jalapenos
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 2 pinches of black pepper
- 6 hamburger buns
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce and anything else you like to top your burger with)
Juicy Lucy Red Jalapeno Prep
- Finely chop your red jalapenos and put them in a mix them with your Velveeta cheese
- Weigh out a quarter pound of hamburger and roll it into a ball (I made a few smaller ones for the kids)
- With your thumb, make an indention in the middle of your hamburger ball and insert your red jalapeno Velveeta mix
- Close the opening of your hamburger so cheese mix is enclosed
- From juicy lucy into a hamburger patty and repeat until you have ran out of hamburger
Smoking Instructions
- Preheat your charcoal BBQ to 300 degrees with the charcoal on one side of the BBQ and a cool zone on the other side of the BBQ
- Add your favorite flavor of wood chips onto the charcoal after it has reached 300 degrees
- Place your juicy lucy patties on the cool side of the BBQ and let them smoke until they reach 160 degrees internally
- Place your juicy lucy patties over the heat on the hot side of the BBQ for 1 minute on each side
- Remove from heat and place them on your hamburger bun with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
